Here's the short version, because I know why you're here. From is now on Netflix in the U.S., it landed on Oct. 19, and it brought only three of its four seasons with it. That's 30 episodes you can start tonight at no extra cost if you already pay for Netflix. Season 4, which aired this spring, is still on MGM+, and the fifth and final season is in production with a 2027 target and no date.

I like this story more than most streaming-rights stories, honestly. A show that spent more than four years behind a smaller service just got put in front of Netflix's audience, right before its last chapter. By the U.S. daily chart tracker FlixPatrol, From was already sitting at No. 2 among Netflix TV shows in the U.S. on Oct. 22, only its second day on the chart. People are clearly curious. So let's make the whole thing easy: where each season lives, how long it really takes, what the wait looks like, and my own call on whether the two-service route is worth your time.

Spoiler policy Nothing past the basic premise is revealed here. No deaths, no twists, no season-ending details. If you haven't started, you can read all of this safely.
Stop 1 The route

Where is each season of From streaming? The route at a glance

Think of the whole binge as a road with one toll booth in the middle. Here's how it breaks down, according to the reporting I've linked at the bottom.

  1. Seasons 1 to 3

    Netflix (U.S.) · 30 episodes

Added Oct. 19, 2026. Season 1 first premiered on Epix on Feb. 20, 2022, per Wikipedia, and the service was later rebranded as MGM+. No end date for the Netflix run has been announced, but Reactor reports it looks like a limited arrangement.

  2. The wall

Season 4 isn't in the Netflix deal

If you finish Season 3 on Netflix, you'll need MGM+ to keep going. The Netflix deal covers the first three seasons only.

  3. Season 4

    MGM+ · 10 episodes

Aired April 19 to June 28, 2026, per DIRECTV's guide to the show, and it's streaming on MGM+ now.

  4. Season 5 (final)

    Expected 2027 · no date

MGM+ renewed the show for a fifth and final season on April 15, 2026. Variety reported that production would resume in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

One caution: all the reporting I found describes the Netflix addition as a U.S. deal. If you're outside the U.S., check your own Netflix library before you plan around it.

Stop 2 The premise

What is From about? A spoiler-free explainer

The official logline, as quoted by Variety, describes a nightmarish town that traps everyone who enters it. That's the hook, and it's a good one. Harold Perrineau stars as Boyd Stevens, who Wikipedia describes as the self-appointed sheriff and de facto mayor of the town. John Griffin created the series, Jeff Pinkner is the showrunner, Jack Bender is a director and executive producer, and Anthony and Joe Russo's AGBO is among the production companies, according to Variety.

It has a real reputation behind it. MakeUseOf calls it the biggest show in MGM+'s history, and FandomWire's roundup lists Rotten Tomatoes critic scores of 96% for Season 1, 93% for Season 2, 100% for Season 3 and 96% for Season 4. Treat those numbers as a snapshot, because Rotten Tomatoes scores can move, and remember the site measures the share of positive reviews, not how high each review scored. Still, that's a strong run for a horror mystery, and it's why I'm comfortable recommending the first three seasons to someone who has never seen a frame.

A show that spent years on a smaller service just got its biggest front door yet. I'd walk through it.
Stop 3 The catch

Is From Season 4 on Netflix? No, and here's why people are annoyed

The Netflix library carries Seasons 1 through 3. Season 4 isn't in the deal and stays on MGM+, as multiple outlets report. Neither company has publicly explained the split, so any "why" is interpretation. MakeUseOf's read is that MGM is probably hoping Netflix viewers get hooked and then pay for MGM+ to continue. That's a reasonable theory, though it is a theory.

My own take is a little more relaxed. If you already pay for Netflix, the first 30 episodes are effectively free to you. Finishing the story costs one month of MGM+, and you can time that month so you aren't paying for it while you're still on Season 1. It's inconvenient, sure. It's not a rip-off.

Stop 4 The math

How long does it take to watch all of From? My night-by-night pace math

Forty episodes sounds like a lot until you break it into nights. Here are three paces. Each square is one night: the dark squares are Netflix nights and the amber ones are MGM+ nights. The math is mine and it's simple: 30 Netflix episodes plus 10 MGM+ episodes, divided by how many you'd watch per night, rounded up.

One episode a night

40 nights in total

30 on Netflix, then 10 on MGM+

Two episodes a night

20 nights in total

15 on Netflix, then 5 on MGM+

Three episodes a night

14 nights in total

10 on Netflix, then 4 on MGM+

The number I care about is the first one in each card, because it tells you when to open your MGM+ account. At two episodes a night, that's roughly Night 16. Before that, you don't need it. If you're watching on weekends only, don't sign up until your Season 3 finale is behind you.

What does MGM+ cost? That depends on how you subscribe. One price guide lists it at about $7.99 a month with a 7-day free trial, and it's sold as an add-on through Prime Video, Apple TV, the Roku Channel, Sling and Xfinity, while DIRECTV lists it as a premium channel. Prices and promotions change, so check the checkout page before you commit. For Season 4, a single month is all the math requires.

Stop 5 The ending

When does From Season 5 come out? What's confirmed and what isn't

Here's what's solid. MGM+ renewed From for a fifth and final season on April 15, 2026, a few days before Season 4 premiered, per Variety and Deadline. Screen Rant and Tom's Guide report that filming began in early July in Halifax. The expected premiere year is 2027. There's no premiere date, and I couldn't find an official episode count.

Now my arithmetic, which is not an announcement. The gaps between season premieres have run roughly 14, 17 and 19 months: Feb. 2022 to April 2023, then to Sept. 2024, then to April 2026. Apply 14 to 19 months to Season 4's April premiere and you land somewhere between June and November 2027. That fits "2027." It doesn't tell you the month, and I wouldn't plan a vacation around it. Nothing I found puts Season 5 anywhere but MGM+, so that's where I'd expect to finish the story.

Stop 6 My verdict

Is the two-streamer route worth it? My five-line scorecard

I graded the route itself, not the show. These are my judgment calls from the facts above.

A

Cost to start

Thirty episodes at no extra charge for U.S. Netflix subscribers. You can't beat that for a trial run.

A-

Critical track record

Every season is reported in the 90s or at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm docking a notch only because the score is a share of positive reviews, not a quality rating.

B

Cost to finish

One MGM+ month for Season 4, plus another later if you want Season 5 right away. Reasonable, but it's not nothing.

C

Wait risk

After Season 4, there's a stretch before the final season, and there is no date. If cliffhangers make you grumpy, factor that in.

C-

Convenience

Two services for one story is clunky. And with no announced end date for the Netflix run, you probably shouldn't treat it as permanent.

Put those together and I land on a B: strong where it matters for a first step (free and well reviewed), clunky on logistics. That's good enough that I'd start tonight, with one rule: don't open an MGM+ account until you actually finish Season 3.

Stop 7 The call

Should you start From tonight? Who it's for and who should wait

Start tonight if…

  • You already have Netflix and want a long mystery to sink into before Halloween.
  • You like stories that hold back answers and pay them off over several seasons.
  • You're fine with a clear end point: Season 5 is confirmed as the last.

Wait if…

  • You want a finished series you can watch top to bottom in one service.
  • You get frustrated when mysteries stay open between seasons.
  • You won't pay for a second service to see Season 4.

I should be clear about one limit. Nobody outside the production can promise how a mystery ends, and a confirmed final season is not a guaranteed satisfying one. What I can say is that the setup is worth sampling, and with Netflix carrying the first three seasons, the risk is just your evenings.

Last stop The long way home

What I'll remember about this one

I keep thinking about how rare it is for a series to get a second front door right before it ends. Most shows on smaller services quietly finish to the people who were already there. From is getting a late crowd, and honestly, I think that's lovely. If you're one of those new viewers, you get to do something that's getting harder to do in 2026: start a big mystery before you know where it ends, with the finish line already in sight.

My advice is plain. Open Netflix tonight, watch two episodes, and see if the town gets under your skin. If it does, you'll know what to do when Season 3 ends.
